    Responsibilities

    Primary responsibilities include administering nursing care according to physician’s orders, established standards and administrative policies.  Assisting with activities of daily living. Performing various resident care treatments/services and assists in the coordination, direction and management of the nursing unit(s) to provide for the needs, safety and comfort of the residents.

     

    There are many important duties including, but not limited to:

     

    • Performing appropriate diagnositc tests in clinic as ordered by physician, such as urinalysis, finger stick-blood sugar tests, and stool guiacs.
    • Regulating and adjusting medication and treatements per consultations with physician, monitoring closely for adverse side effects.
    • Participating in formal and informal resident teaching activities aimed at promoting positive health practices and an understanding of the individual’s medical issue(s).
    • Assisting with ongoing therapeutic management of stable long-term health problems in the chronically ill elderly.
    • Maintaining Service Excellence Core Values when serving and caring for residents, staff, volunteers, leaders, vendors, and all associated with the organization.

     

     

    Qualifications

You must have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalency, and a current LPN license.  Previous experience in nursing in a geriatric enviroment such as nursing home, home health care, hospital, rehab facility, is preferred.
