  • Overview

    Assists direct care workers (CNAs) by performing duties not requiring certification

    Responsibilities

    1. Assists with resident nourishment needs including but not limited to:
    • Deliver and pick-up room trays to alert and orient residents
    • Serve water, juices, milk during meals
    • Set-up resident trays as needed
    • Transport residents to and from the dining rooms
    • Distribute clothing protectors at each meal
    • Offer washcloths to residents after each meal
    • Pass nutritional snacks as assigned
    • Provide ice water to all residents unless NPO or thickened liquids
    • Tracks percentage of food and liquids consumed at each meal. Records on back of meal ticket

    1. Accurately documents residents personal property upon admission and as needed

     

    1. Maintains cleanliness and neatness of:
    • Resident rooms, dining room
    • Empty soiled clothing protector bags after each meal
    • Remove trays left in resident rooms
    • Overall cleanliness of unit
    • Remove dirty dished, soiled clothing protectors, trash, etc. from dining room
    • Empty laundry bags in each residents bathroom at the end of shift and as needed
    • Make beds

    1. Interacts with residents by:
    • Transporting to and from activities
    • One-on-one activities (reading, music, comfort, etc.)
    • Takes residents on walks in/out of facility as permitted
    •  
    1. Displays a respectful and compassionate attitude towards residents including but not limited to:
    • Presents a positive, helpful attitude towards residents and families
    • Maintains an attitude of respect towards resident and families
    • Assures resident privacy and confidentiality at all times
    1. Adheres to all Presbyterian Villages safety and infection control procedures
    • Use proper hand washing techniques
    • Utilizes universal precautions as warranted
    • Reports incidents/accidents to charge nurse immediately

    Qualifications

    Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, generally commensurate with some high school education or its equivalent.
