    Responsibilities

    The HR Manager will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and administering the Human Resources initiatives and functions of the location(s) in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and standards. Human resources responsibility includes, but is not limited to: Employee Relations, Recruiting, Performance Management, Compliance with employment laws and PVM policies, Benefits Administration, Communications, and Adherence to Policy, Worker’s Compensation/Safety, Unemployment, and Training, Orientation, and On-boarding.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

     

    1. Develop or implement recruiting strategies to meet current and anticipated staffing needs.
    2. Perform searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, job fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals.
    3. Inform job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, working conditions, or promotion opportunities.
    4. Review employment applications and job descriptions to match applicants with job requirements. Interview job applicants to obtain information on work history, training, education, or job skills. Refer them to managers, making hiring recommendations when appropriate.  Schedule or administer skill, intelligence, behavioral, physical or drug tests for current or prospective employees. Conduct reference or background checks on job applicants.  Extend offers of employment to candidates. Provide explanation of compensation and benefits.
    5. Address employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.
    6. Provide management team with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.  Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.  Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
    7. Schedule or conduct new employee orientations.
    8. Prepare or maintain employment records including documents pertaining to hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions. Follow established record retention policy.
    9. Assists in the development of benefit programs, processes accurate and timely benefit enrollment forms and status or wage changes.
    10. Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
    11. Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports. (ADA), FMLA, worker's compensation, unemployment, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), any other laws or regulations that would impact organization.
    12. Conduct or direct the internal investigation of staff issues such as harassment, theft, violence, or any policy violation.  Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
    13. Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes.
    14. Assists in the development, updating and administration of appropriate wage and salary program, approves and processes rate increases/change information.
    15. Monitors, evaluates and assist with unemployment and worker’s compensation issues.
    16. Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
    17. Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
    18. Maintain current knowledge of state and federal regulations and laws such as Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action, Americans with Disabilities Act

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate to join our team will:

    • have 3 or more years in successfully recruiting outstanding team members;
    • have 5 or more years in HR generalist/management functions including work with an HR system, ATS System, and all other generalist functions of HR.
    • have a strong mentoring style and experience in leading others in either a direct supervisor role or an indirect project leadership role;
    • have an excellent ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results;
    • have exceptional business acumen; understanding industry trends, business metrics and how department goals integrate with company objectives.
    • be change'ready with a "strategic" approach to anticipate opportunities and challenges, and adapt and flex as necessary.
    • have excellent teamwork and communication skills, including proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
    • understand the importance of an engaged HR Dept philosophy and the significance this rolehas in developing and maintaining a positive workforce culture.

     

    A minimum of Associates degree in Human Resources Management or related field.  HR Certification a plus.  Valid drivers license required.   Previous experience with HRIS systems for timekeeping, payroll required.  Experience with Ultipro HRIS system a plus.   Five plus years in HR required.  Ability to travel locally, within Southfield Michigan, and ensure that HR support is available as needed, for all three shifts. 

     

    The position is based in Southfield, Michigan, and may have HR responsibility for 1 - 3 communities within a 10 mile radius.
