  • Overview

    Responsible for all facets of financial reporting, accounts payable, monitoring/measuring of billing and collection at Villages, third party audit and compliance reporting, support of management operational analysis, operational budgeting, internal controls, banking and cash management, fixed assets, and information systems relative to finance and payroll related applications. Assists risk management with insurance procurement related matters. Assists human resource with wage and benefit related matters. Leads and supervises Co-Accounting Managers.  Maintains and analyzes financial accounting transactions through the preparation of financial statements and analytics.  Assesses and provides education toward greater financial acumen of systemwide Directors and Administrators.  Assists the Senior VP of Finance in providing support for various capital financing initiatives.



    1. Supervises Co-Manager responsible for receipt, disbursement, banking, protection, and custody of funds, securities, and financial instruments.
    2. Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for cash and credit management activities.
    3. Develops and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational financial personnel to facilitate financial activities.
    4. Coordinates and directs the annual operating budgeting activities of the organization.
    5. Leads monthly operational and cash forecasts.
    6. Advises senior management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
    7. Provides direction and assistance to other organizational departments/entities regarding budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
    8. Advises management on actions regarding the purchase, lease, or disposal of such items.
    9. Communicates changes in financial related material matters affecting operations.
    10. Executes contracts and other documents necessary to provide for the functioning and necessary advancement of PVM’s Finance Department related programs and services within established PVM policy on Limits of Authority.
    11. Updates and maintains PVM’s Finance Department related permanent files in accordance with PVM policy and third party requirements.
    12. Establishes and monitors performance measurements for PVM Finance Department.
    13. Serves as the lead staff liaison to the PVM Benevolence and Audit Committees.
    14. Assists the PVM Human Resources Department with assessment and procurement of employee benefits.
    15. Assists the Risk Management Department with procurement of insurance coverage for new and existing sites.
    16. Supervises all aspects banking relationships, policies, and procedures, including the coordination of establishing all bank accounts.
    17. Develops and maintains daily, monthly, and quarterly, cash flow projections and reporting for existing operations.
    18. Manages the conversion and automation of various finance systems.
    19. Leads efforts to establish the records of new entities accounting and banking related matters.

    Leads the Accounting and Financial Reporting

    1. Directs preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, and reports required by regulatory agencies.
    2. Supervises Co-Manager responsible for performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, and payroll duties.
    3. Supervises the preparation and filing of annual tax returns and/or prepare financial information in order for outside accountants to complete tax returns.
    4. Maintains understanding of current accounting standards and third party reporting.
    5. Leads the preparation of quarterly bondholder Management Discussions, financial disclosures, and covenant calculations.
    6. Supervises and coordinates fiscal year-end audits and reviews of PVM system-wide entities’ accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with applicable financing and governmental requirements, regulations and statues.
    7. Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for accounting and financial reporting, including cross training and redundancy in certain procedures and systems to manage associated risk.
    8. Oversight of monthly bank reconciliations.
    9. Receives and authorizes requests for disbursements in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    10. Monitor financial activities to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
    11. Provide direction and assistance to other organizational departments/entities regarding accounting policies and procedures (e.g. determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items).
    12. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and reporting requirements related to finance.
    13. Supervises the annual cost reporting and analyses of third party reimbursement matters.
    14. Supervises the identification, tracking, and tagging of fixed assets and the maintenance of the fixed asset register and related reporting.
    15. Provides timely compliance reporting for tax returns, third-party cost reports, HUD reporting, MSHDA tenant and monthly reporting, LIHTC compliance, tax-exempt bond financing related, insurance, etc.
    16. Leads the design, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of the systems of internal controls.


    Assistance to SVP of Finance and Business Development

    1. Assist in all aspects of short-term indebtedness relationships, policies, and procedures.
    2. Assists with due diligence associated with financial closings for new entities and financings.


    1. Leads, in close consultation with the SVP of Finance & Business Development, the organizational development and restructuring of the Finance Department from time to time.
    2. Maintain strong knowledge and understanding of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
    3. Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
    4. Follow established policies and procedures including but not limited to:
      • PVM’s policies and procedures.
      • Safety policies and procedures.
      • Federal, state and local regulations.



    Education : M.B.A. or Master’s degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent experience. Certified Public Accountant, preferred.


    Experience : 10 or more years of management experience in a similar job. Finance experience in senior living, healthcare, real estate, and/or hospitality/service sectors preferred.


    Computer Skills: Computer literacy required (Windows, Excel, Sage, Report writers). Drives Organization towards further automation of its reporting and systems.


    Certificates & Licenses: Current or former Certified Public Accountant.


    Other Requirements: Must have ability to travel and work required hours
