Develops and implements an ongoing infection prevention and control program to prevent, recognize and control the onset and spread of infections in order to provide a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment.
1. Establishes facility-wide systems for the prevention, identification, reporting,
investigation and control of infections and communicable diseases of residents, staff and visitors.
2. Develops and implements written policies and procedures in accordance with current
standards of practice and recognized guidelines for infection prevention and control.
3. Oversees the facilities antibiotic stewardship program.
4. Oversees resident care activities that increase risk of infection (i.e. use and care of
urinary catheters, wound care, incontinence care, skin care, point-of-care blood testing
and medication injections.
5. Conducts infection control audits of dining, environmental, nursing and beauty salon
services.
6. Conducts ongoing epidemiological surveillance for facility acquired infections and
outbreak investigations. Develop a plan and oversee intervention to contain and prevent
transmission of diseases. Report investigation results to the quality assurance
committee and medical director.
7. Collect and analyze monthly data on laboratory and pharmaceutical antimicrobial usage
within village. Report results to quality improvement committee and medical director.
8. Ensure compliance with facility infection control policies on contracted optical, dental,
audiology, laboratory and x-ray services.
9. Leads the facilities Infection and Prevention Control committee. Develops action plans
to address opportunities for improvement.
10. Provides education related to infection prevention and control principles and procedures
to staff, residents, and families.
11. Ensures public health department is notified of reportable diseases.
12. Implements an annual infection control risk assessment process and participates in the
facilities annual assessment review process.
13. participates in and presents infection control reports at QAPI meetings
14. Collaborates with other departments in fulfilling requirements related to occupational
health and safety (i.e. employee health).
15. Reports flu and COVID vaccine information to NHSN as required.
16. Performs line listing and reports data to PRIISM.
17. Manages employee and resident COVID testing and processes related to testing,
manage inventory if testing supplies and reports data to the Health Department, EMR
and NHSN.
18. Performs new hire and annual N-95 FIT testing for staff members involved in resident
care.
19. Oversees construction and renovation projects to ensure compliance with infection
control regulations.
20. Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to
keep informed on current information and skill development.
21. Follow established policies and procedures including but not limited to:
o Presbyterian Villages policies and procedures.
o Safety policies and procedures.
o Federal, state and local regulations.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current registration as a licensed registered nurse.
Certified Infection Preventionist
2+ years related experience preferred
One year supervisory experience and one year of long term care experience preferred.
Ability to identify, analyze, resolve and present issues at a level generally commensurate with
some college level course work.
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) with diverse populations and factions at a level
generally commensurate with some college level course work.
Ability to quickly assess and address emergency and non-emergency situations calmly and
professionally.
Computer Skills: Efficient Computer knowledge and use of Microsoft products, word processing, spreadsheets
database systems, and email.

Current Michigan registration as a Registered Nurse
