Perform any combination of duties to maintain resident’s health and well-being by assisting them with daily living activities such as grooming, eating, dressing, and bathing. Also maintain cleanliness of resident rooms/units and common areas including kitchen and laundry.  Assist food service department including the plating, service and clean-up of food service to residents, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist, guide, or direct resident with daily life activities including: personal grooming/hygiene, dressing/undressing, toileting, assisting with urine and bowel incontinence (and/or emptying drainage units), range of motion activities and exercises (ambulating, positioning, lifting) to increase quality of living following established procedures
  2. Prepare and maintain records to document client progress and services performed by recording in resident chart, use judgment to report changes in client condition to manager or supervisor for review.
  3. Guide, direct, and assist residents with maintaining a safe and clean environment, including but not limited to: Changing bed linens, cleaning/tidying up resident’s rooms, dining rooms, etc. wipe, vacuum, sweep as necessary, emptying waste baskets, cleaning refrigerator, microwave, steam tables, restrooms as needed.
  4. Perform healthcare-related tasks, such as monitoring vital signs and medication, under the direction of nurse (LPN or RN).
  5. Collect specimens, such as urine, feces, or sputum for testing using proper receptacles and following safety precautions.
  6. Clean and maintain all common areas including, but not limited to corridors, lounges, reception areas, restrooms, storage and supply areas, floors, offices, and chapel. Clean and maintain resident rooms and units as assigned and/or as vacated so that health standards are met by: 
    • Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
    • Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
    • Wash windows, blinds, walls, ceilings, woodwork, etc. as necessary.
    • Move and arrange furniture.
    • Replenish bathroom items. Wash and disinfect using approve cleaning solutions.
    • Wash and disinfect bathroom and kitchen fixtures/appliances using approved cleaning solutions.
    • Sweep and mop floors.
  7. Clean rugs and carpets using vacuum cleaners and shampooers.
  8. Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  9. Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides.
  10. Maintain adequate levels/quantities of supplies by reporting accurate inventory to manager/lead for replenishment.
  11. Collect dining room and resident laundry. Sort clothing and other articles, load washing machines and dryers, iron and fold dried items. Conduct count of linens for inventory.
  12. Clean laundry room, chemical room and maintain upkeep on equipment such as washers and dryers.
  13. Distribute, handle, add, and change laundry chemicals for use following established safety procedures.
  14. Perform a variety of tasks related to food service department including the preparation, service and clean up of food service to residents, visitors, and staff.
  15. Collect resident food orders, and deliver food directly to residents for meals.
  16. Prepare and serve a variety of beverages such as coffee, tea, and soft drinks.
  17. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans and/or silverware by washing by hand or loading into dishwasher.
  18. Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
  19. Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
  20. Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers.
  21. Scrape leftovers from dishes into garbage containers.
  22. Sweep and mop kitchen floor.
  23. Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed, and provide cooks with needed items.
  24. Serve/deliver resident meals as needed.
  25. Collect resident food orders, and deliver food directly to residents for meals.
  26. Prepare and serve a variety of beverages such as coffee, tea, and soft drinks.
  27. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans and/or silverware by washing by hand or loading into dishwasher.
  28. Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
  29. Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
  30. Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers.
  31. Scrape leftovers from dishes into garbage containers.
  32. Sweep and mop kitchen floor.
  33. Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed, and provide cooks with needed items.
  34. Portion and wrap the food, or place it directly on plates for service to patrons.
  35. Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  36. Prepare a variety of foods, such as meats, vegetables, desserts, according to resident orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
  37. Follow established policies and procedures including but not limited to:
    • Presbyterian Villages policies and procedures.
    • Safety policies and procedures.
    • Federal, state and local regulations.
  38. All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must possess an understanding, caring and helpful attitude.

Previous experience with the geriatric population is beneficial and preferred but not required.

Must be 18 years old.

High School Graduate/ General Education Degree (GED).

No prior experience necessary.

Must be able to operate a computer.

Current First Aid and CPR certification desired but not required at time of hire.
