Develop, lead and supervise a coordinated, integrated and diverse schedule of recreational activities, events and supportive services (group and/or individual) within the Wellness Department. Provides residents with the benefits of social and group interaction in the independent, assisted living, memory loss unit or skilled nursing environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Managing the development, implementation, supervision and ongoing evaluation of the
wellness programs and activities.
2. Completing or delegating the completion of the activities component of the
comprehensive assessment.
3. Contributing to, directing or delegating the contribution to the comprehensive care plan
goals.
4. Managing the wellness program also includes scheduling activities and revising
interventions as necessary.
5. Hires, trains, supervises disciplines, evaluates and terminates Wellness staff.
6. Creates, develops and facilitates a comprehensive wellness program that is
preventative, holistic in nature and addresses mind, body and spirit dimensions.
7. Develops monitors and manages departmental budget consisting of social activities,
physical fitness, education, social services, chaplaincy and volunteers.
8. Assess conditions and abilities of residents. Utilizes this information to develop a
responsive activity plan.
9. Motivates residents to attend activities.
10. Publicizes/advertises activities and events within Village (s) and local communities.
11. Coordinates brainstorms and approves special events, holiday activities and blended
programs within the village.
12. Approves the resident newsletter and calendar of events (schedule or activities).
13. Directs the programs of activities as posted and assign program leadership to qualified
individuals.
14. Schedules and coordinates leisure activity programs to meet the variety of interests, the
physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs of all current residents.
15. Facilitates/delegates decorating facility for holidays, special events, and assigns
responsibility to qualified individuals.
16. Reviews appropriate documentation and prepares reports (verbal and written) on
attendance, participation, interest, change in abilities, appropriateness of care,
activity/plan, etc.
17. Revises and updates documentation (including charts, MDS, etc.) in accordance with
State/village requirements and provides reports (verbal and written) regarding same.
18. Prepares and presents reports to the Resident Association.
19. Attends and facilitates assigned committee meetings
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3 years’ experience in a leadership position in a senior living setting
Experience:
2 years’ experience in a senior living environment preferred
2 years’ experience in a social, recreational, wellness program in a senior living setting
Computer Skills:
Efficient Computer knowledge and use of Microsoft products, word processing, spreadsheets database systems, and email.
Certificates & Licenses:
Certified as an Activities Professional or is willing to obtain the certification
