: Assists in directing and supervising the nursing staff in providing quality care in
accordance with all applicable standards, guidelines and regulations.
1. Assists in the development and implementation of policies, programs and procedures
which will enhance the quality of life and comply with all applicable standards, guidelines
and regulations.
2. Consults and coordinates with nursing staff, physicians and other medical practitioners
(including attendance at care conferences if needed) regarding resident care.
3. Hire, train, orient, develop, counsel, evaluate, discipline and terminate certified nurse
assistant staff and nurses, and assists Director of Nursing regarding all of the above.
4. Maintains appropriate staffing levels, and schedules accordingly, to ensure adequate
resident care coverage.
5. Establishes and maintains a positive atmosphere of leadership including continuous
quality improvement, team work, mutual respect, professionalism and accountability.
6. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with residents, families, staff,
physicians, hospital personnel and other medical practitioners, community organizations
and various agencies.
7. Assesses, develops and monitors resident care plans as needed
8. Addresses resident, family and staff concerns.
9. Maintains compliance with staff education requirements. Provide tests, teach back and
other methods of teaching as appropriate. Handles and organizes new staff
orientations. Assists in the hiring of new staff.
10. Organize annual staff education. Provide orientation to vendors, doctors, volunteers as
needed.
11. Responsible for the ensuring completion of Relias for the entire facility.
12. Assists in the development and implementation of a plan of correction for deficiencies
noted during survey inspections.
13. Maintains "on call" status for departmental emergencies. Facility wide managerial
responsibility on rotating basis (weekends).
14. Creates and maintains a positive atmosphere of customer service, including continuous
quality improvement, teamwork, mutual respect, professionalism and accountability.
15. Maintains service excellence core values, and diversity and inclusion principles.
16. Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to
keep informed on current information and skill development.
17. Follow established policies and procedures including but not limited to:
o Presbyterian Villages policies and procedures.
o Safety policies and procedures.
o Federal, state and local regulations.
18. All other duties as assigned
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current registration as a licensed
registered nurse.
A professional level of knowledge of skilled nursing and the long term care industry
(including OBRA and MDS) -- knowledge that is normally acquired through attendance
at nursing home administration licensure course work.
EXPERIENCE
Skilled in management and administration techniques, generally commensurate with
some college level course work.
One year supervisory experience and one year of long term care experience preferred.
Ability to identify, analyze, resolve and present issues at a level generally commensurate
with some college level course work.
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) with diverse populations and factions at a
level generally commensurate with some college level course work.
Ability to quickly assess and address emergency and non-emergency situations calmly
and professionally
